The last few days of the season at the Snai San Siro Racecourse in Milan will take place before the summer break, with both horse racing disciplines returning in September. The season reached its climax on Sunday 22 June with the Oaks d’Italia Tattersalls: a Group 2 race reserved for three-year-old fillies over a distance of 2,100 metres. This race crowned the national ‘Queen of Gallop’. There was also the Gran Premio di Milano, a race for horses aged three years and over over a distance of 2,000 metres, and the Carlo Vittadini, a race for horses aged three years and older over a distance of 1,600 metres. Off the track, there were plenty of activities and entertainment for all ages, from an elegant vintage carriage taking visitors along the avenues of the historic Milanese racecourse, to the GAMI, Galleria Archivio Multimediale Ippodromo, where visitors could discover the history of horse racing. There was also a presentation of the book “Purosangue Leggendari” by Marco Monaco, and an exhibition of vintage Alfa Romeo cars. In the Paddock area, the ‘Wild West Ranch’ workshop organised by the Francesca Rava Foundation saw entertainers dressed as cowboys welcome and accompany young visitors on a fun adventure in the heart of the Far West.

The races will return on Sunday 7 September with a special event: the Premio Cancelli. However, October is the month that racing fans are most looking forward to. The highlight will be on Sunday 19th, when the Premio Carlo Porta will be followed by three Group 2 races: the Jockey Club-Sire, the Gran Criterium and the Premio Dormello. The programme concludes with the Gran Premio delle Aste, the Premio Fiume, the Monterosa, the Madonnina and the Premio Campobello. Six races will conclude the season in December, the last of which is scheduled for Monday 29th.

And trotting? After the fantastic evening at the San Siro track on Saturday 7 June, when Ginostrabliggi and Gioconda Jet won the Gran Premio Nazionale and Gran Premio Nazionale Filly respectively, the season will resume on Friday 12 September and conclude on Sunday 28 December. Make sure you don’t miss Saturday 1 November, when the best of the best will compete in two Group 1 races: the Gran Premio Nazionale (Elite UET) and the Gran Premio Orsi Mangelli. There will also be a Group 2 race for the Gran Premio Orsi Mangelli Filly and a Group 3 race for the Coppa Di Milano.
