Galloping and trotting take centre stage: must-see events at the Snai San Siro Racecourse
The Snai San Siro Racecourse in Milan is ready to welcome the new 2025 equestrian season with a calendar full of not-to-be-missed events. The trotting programme, which began on 1st January, will continue until 7th June, when the summer break occurs, before resuming on 12th September and ending on 28th December. In total, 44 days of races are planned, including prestigious events such as the Gran Premio Mario and Ettore Barbetta, Group 3 race, scheduled for 25th April. The first part of the season, on 7th June, will be the Gran Premio Nazionale Group 1 test and the Gran Premio Nazionale Filly Group 2 test. Depending on the part of the season, between September and December, sees on 1st November a programme that concentrates several important races with the two Group 1 tests for the Gran Premio Nazionale Élite UET and the Gran Premio Orsi Mangelli, and in the same meeting also the Orsi Mangelli Filly Group 2 and the Milan Cup Group 3.
For the 105th galloping season we start with a double appointment on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd March, with 55 days of events being held on one of the most selective grass tracks in Europe. The most prominent races are the Premio Seregno and the Premio Gardone on 29th March, while the listed race for the Premio Certosa is scheduled for 20th April. In May, on the other hand, the calendar is full, starting from the 1st with the Spring Handicap. Following on the 3rd is the Premio Emanuele Filiberto and on the 11th with the Ambrosiano Group 3 and the listed race for the Premio Paolo Mezzanotte. Spectacular and intense on the 17th with the Premio Nogara, the Mario Incisa della Rocchetta and the listed race for the Bereguardo Prize – Sirland Trophy one after the other. But it is the month of June that catalyses the attention of enthusiasts, professionals and horse lovers: it begins on Sunday the 8th with the Group 3 Premio Giubileo, the three listed races for the Premio Mario and Vittorio Crespi, the XCV Royal Mares Prize and the Premio Bimbi. The highlight, the event not to be missed, is for Sunday the 22nd with the Oaks d’Italia, Group 2 reserved for 3-year-old females, the Premio Milan UAE President Cup always of Group 2, and then the two Groups 3 with the Milan Grand Prix and the Premio Carlo Vittadini, the listed race for the Gold Cup and the Premio Bersaglio. At the end of June, the last appointment is scheduled for Sunday the 29th with the listings for the Premio Primi Passi and the Premio Estate, the Italian Grand Prix, and finally the Premio Trenno. On 5th July, the day that closes the first part of the season of galloping, the two listed races for the Premio Giuseppe De Montel and the Premio Gino and Luciano Mantovani are scheduled. At the resumption on 7 September there is already the Premio Cancelli, while on 20 September there is the Premio Ippolito Fassati and the Premio Pietro Bessero. On the 27th, the Coolmore Prize, Vittorio Riva and the Criterium Nazionale are on held. But the months of October and November are the most intense of all: on Sunday 19th October two Group 3 trials with the Premio Verziere – Aldo Cirla Memorial and the Premio del Piazzale – Enrico Camici Memorial, and in the same day also the Premio Eupili, the Omenoni and the Premio Elena and Sergio Cumani. On the 19th, on the other hand, the Jockey Club – SIRE, the Premio Dormello and the Gran Criterium, all three of Group 2 are held, and the no less important tests valid for the Premio Carlo Porta, the Premio Fiume, the Monterosa and the Madonnina and then the Premio Campobello and the Gran Premio delle Aste. And here we are in November, another ‘hot’ month on paper: on Sunday the 9th we start with the Premio Vittorio di Capua Group 2, the Premio Castello Sforzesco and the Premio Falck. On the 16th, on the other hand, two Group 3 races are scheduled, the Premio Federico Tesio and the St. Leger Italiano, and as a corollary the Premio Chiusura – Aria Importante.
